Matching winter tires

Buy tyres online at foire-aux-jantes

You can buy tyres online at foire-aux-jantes by selecting the required tyre size, season and product characteristics. Start with the tyre dimensions you need and then compare the models currently offered for summer, winter or year-round use.

Your purchasing decision involves more than manufacturer and price. Load and speed index, wet grip, energy efficiency and external rolling noise can also be relevant. This allows you to narrow down the selection step by step to tyres that meet your vehicle requirements and suit your driving profile.

Choose tyres by size

Tyre size is the central starting point for your product search. A specification such as 205/55 R16 describes several technical characteristics: 205 is the nominal tyre width in millimetres, 55 is the sidewall height as a percentage of the tyre width, R indicates radial construction and 16 is the rim diameter in inches.

However, the dimensions alone are not sufficient to determine whether a tyre is suitable for your vehicle. Always check the specifications for your particular vehicle version. In addition to tyre size, the load index, speed index and other technical specifications may be relevant.

If you already know the tyre dimensions you need, you can use them as the starting point for your product selection. If you do not know them yet, first determine them using the specifications applicable to your vehicle. A commonly used tyre size is not automatically approved for every vehicle or version.

Choose summer, winter or all-season tyres

After tyre size, season is one of the most important choices. Summer tyres are designed for seasonal use in warmer conditions. Factors such as performance on dry and wet roads, efficiency and noise can be relevant when comparing products.

Winter tyres are designed for cold and wintry conditions. Snow, slush and wet winter roads place different demands on tread patterns and rubber compounds than summer road conditions. You should also check the specific markings of each product. The 3PMSF or Alpine symbol identifies tyres that meet defined requirements for snow performance.

All-season tyres combine requirements from different seasons and, depending on your driving profile, can be an alternative to seasonal tyre changes. Relevant factors include your region, climate, annual mileage, urban or long-distance driving and the frequency of severe winter conditions. They represent a compromise between summer and winter requirements and are therefore not automatically the right solution for every type of use.

Determine the correct tyre size

When searching for new car tyres, you should not guess the required dimensions or derive them solely from a vehicle model. Specifications can vary depending on the exact vehicle version. The relevant requirements are those that apply to your particular vehicle.

Also remember that two tyres with identical width, aspect ratio and rim diameter are not automatically technically equivalent. The complete specification includes additional characteristics such as load and speed index as well as, where applicable, special versions or markings.

Tyre size is therefore the first filter rather than a complete approval check. Once you have confirmed the required dimensions, you can compare season, manufacturer, product characteristics and further technical features.

Compare tyre manufacturers and products

Once you have determined size and season, you can narrow down the product selection further. At foire-aux-jantes, you can choose tyres from different manufacturers and compare the models currently offered using the criteria that matter to you. The respective product selection shows which products are offered in your required dimensions and specification.

The brand alone does not determine which tyre suits your driving profile. Compare the individual products instead. Depending on your requirements, factors such as wet grip, efficiency, external rolling noise and technical specification may carry different weight.

Prices can also differ between tyres. Factors can include dimensions, manufacturer, season, product range, load and speed index, technical specification, availability and current market or seasonal conditions. Rather than choosing solely by price, it therefore makes sense to compare the characteristics that are genuinely relevant to your use.

Understand important tyre markings and the EU tyre label

In addition to dimensions and season, technical markings help you refine your selection. The load index indicates the maximum load capacity of a tyre under the defined conditions. The speed index identifies its speed category. The indices you require must comply with the requirements and specifications applicable to your particular vehicle.

Markings such as XL or Extra Load can indicate a tyre version designed for higher loads. This does not mean that XL is inherently better or required for every heavy or electric vehicle. Run-flat and other special versions should likewise only be selected when they are compatible with the vehicle's technical requirements and specifications.

The EU tyre label supports product comparison. It provides information on energy efficiency or rolling resistance, wet grip and external rolling noise. Depending on the tyre, additional snow or ice markings may be relevant. The label is a useful comparison tool, but it does not cover every characteristic of a tyre and therefore cannot provide a complete assessment of overall quality, comfort, durability or driving behaviour.

Compare tyres and order online

For a focused selection, proceed step by step: first confirm the tyre size you need and then decide whether you are looking for summer, winter or all-season tyres. You can then compare the products offered using their technical data, markings and the characteristics that are relevant to you.

Make sure that the dimensions as well as load and speed index comply with the specifications applicable to your vehicle. Use the EU tyre label to compare factors such as wet grip, energy efficiency and external rolling noise between different models. Additional markings should be considered whenever they are relevant to your vehicle or intended use.

If you want to buy tyres online, start at foire-aux-jantes with the required tyre size, choose the appropriate season and compare the current product selection. This takes you from dimensions and key purchasing criteria directly to the tyres you can examine more closely and order online.

Frequently asked questions about buying tyres

How do I find the correct tyre size?

Check the specifications applicable to your particular vehicle version rather than simply copying the dimensions from a similar vehicle. In addition to width, aspect ratio and rim diameter, requirements such as load and speed index may be relevant.

What does a tyre size such as 205/55 R16 mean?

205 is the nominal tyre width in millimetres, 55 is the sidewall height as a percentage of the tyre width, R indicates radial construction and 16 is the rim diameter in inches. The dimensions alone do not indicate vehicle approval, season or specific performance values.

Should I buy summer, winter or all-season tyres?

This depends on your driving profile and the conditions in which you drive. Summer and winter tyres are designed for different seasonal requirements, while all-season tyres combine requirements from different seasons.

What does the EU tyre label tell me?

The EU tyre label makes it easier to compare energy efficiency or rolling resistance, wet grip and external rolling noise. However, it does not cover all tyre characteristics and is therefore only one part of the purchasing decision.

What do load index and speed index mean?

The load index describes the tyre's load capacity category, while the speed index indicates its speed category. The required specification must be checked against the requirements applicable to your vehicle.

What does 3PMSF mean on a tyre?

3PMSF stands for Three Peak Mountain Snowflake and is also known as the Alpine symbol. It indicates that a tyre meets defined requirements for snow performance; for a specific product, you should check whether the marking is actually present.

Which tyre brand should I choose?

The right choice does not depend on the manufacturer's name alone. Compare tyres in your required dimensions and season using the technical specifications, product characteristics, label information and your driving profile.

How can I choose tyres online at foire-aux-jantes?

Start with the required tyre size and then select the season that is relevant to you. You can then compare the current product selection, check important characteristics and order your chosen tyres online.
