Buy winter tyres online at foire-aux-jantes

You can buy winter tyres online at foire-aux-jantes according to your required tyre size and driving profile. Start by selecting the correct dimensions and then compare the winter tyres currently offered using their technical data, markings and tyre label information.

Winter tyres are designed for cold and wintry conditions. Snow, slush, wet winter roads and low temperatures place different demands on tyres than summer road conditions. The seasonal category alone is therefore not sufficient: tyre size, load and speed index as well as the specific product markings must also comply with your vehicle requirements.

When are winter tyres a suitable choice?

Winter tyres are designed for seasonal use in cold and wintry conditions. Their tread design and rubber compounds are generally intended to meet requirements associated with snow, slush and wet winter roads. A fixed temperature threshold, however, should not be treated as a universal rule for changing tyres.

Whether winter tyres are the appropriate seasonal solution for your driving profile depends, among other things, on when and under which conditions you use your vehicle. Drivers who regularly encounter pronounced winter conditions have different tyre requirements from those who mainly drive in regions with a more moderate climate.

Annual mileage, urban or long-distance driving and the actual road conditions can also influence your purchasing decision. Always check the technical specifications and markings of the specific tyre you select.

Winter tyres for cold, snow, slush and wet roads

Winter roads can present a wide range of conditions. In addition to snow, these include slush, cold wet roads and changing road surfaces. On a general level, winter tyres are therefore associated with tread patterns and rubber compounds designed for winter conditions.

When choosing a product, it is worth looking closely at the characteristics relevant to your driving profile. Wet grip, for example, can be compared between different models using the EU tyre label. Energy efficiency or rolling resistance and external rolling noise are also shown as purchasing criteria.

However, the tyre label is not a complete assessment of quality. Characteristics such as dry handling, comfort, durability or overall winter performance cannot be derived from label information alone. Use the label as a comparison tool within the product selection and also consider the remaining technical product information.

Winter, summer and all-season tyres compared

Winter tyres, summer tyres and all-season tyres follow different seasonal concepts. Winter tyres are designed for cold and wintry conditions, while summer tyres are intended for seasonal use in warmer conditions. Drivers who switch between the two seasons therefore use specialised tyres for different operating conditions.

All-season tyres, by contrast, combine requirements from different seasons. Depending on the region, climate, annual mileage and driving profile, they can be an alternative to seasonal tyre changes. They remain a compromise between the different requirements placed on summer and winter tyres.

There is therefore no universal answer as to which concept suits you. Consider factors such as how often you drive in genuine winter conditions, whether you mainly drive in urban areas or over longer distances, and which climatic conditions are typical in your area of use.

Choose the correct winter tyre size

Before comparing winter tyres, determine the required tyre size for your particular vehicle version. A size such as 205/55 R16 provides information on tyre width, the sidewall height-to-width ratio, radial construction and rim diameter. However, the dimensions alone do not confirm that a particular tyre is approved for your vehicle.

In addition to dimensions, pay particular attention to the load and speed index requirements applicable to your vehicle. The load index indicates the maximum load capacity of a tyre under defined conditions, while the speed index identifies its speed category. The required values must not be derived solely from the vehicle type or tyre dimensions.

Markings such as XL or Extra Load and run-flat versions can also be relevant for individual products. Whether such a specification is required or suitable depends on the vehicle, tyre specification and the corresponding requirements.

3PMSF, tyre label and important purchasing criteria

For winter tyres, the 3PMSF or Alpine symbol is an important product marking. 3PMSF stands for Three Peak Mountain Snowflake and identifies tyres that meet defined requirements for snow performance. Check the individual product information to determine whether a specific winter tyre carries this marking. M+S and 3PMSF should not be treated as equivalent.

The EU tyre label provides additional guidance when comparing different winter tyres. It includes information on wet grip, energy efficiency or rolling resistance and external rolling noise. Additional snow or ice markings may be relevant if they are present on the specific product.

Weight the criteria according to your driving profile. If you frequently drive on wet roads, for example, you can specifically compare the stated wet grip of different models. A low external rolling noise value, on the other hand, does not automatically mean that a tyre will always be perceived as quieter inside the vehicle.

Choose winter tyres by manufacturer and characteristics

At foire-aux-jantes, you can search for tyres from different manufacturers and then check which winter tyres are currently offered in your required size and technical specification. The brand can be one selection criterion, but it should always be considered together with the characteristics of the individual product.

Within your required dimensions, compare the technical specifications, product markings and tyre label information in particular. The current product selection shows which manufacturers and models are offered for your required combination. A manufacturer's name alone does not indicate specific performance characteristics or suitability for your vehicle.

This allows you to narrow down your selection step by step, from dimensions and manufacturer to individual product characteristics, while keeping the technical requirements in focus.

Compare winter tyre prices and selection correctly

The price of a winter tyre can be influenced by various factors. These include tyre size, manufacturer, product range, load and speed index, technical specification, current availability and market or seasonal conditions. A price comparison alone therefore does not take all relevant product differences into account.

Use your required dimensions as the starting point and then compare only tyres whose technical specifications meet your vehicle requirements. Within this selection, you can compare tyre label information, markings, manufacturer and price.

This results in a purchasing decision that is not based on a single characteristic. You can check the current product selection to see which winter tyres are offered and which product variants are available in your required dimensions.

Choose winter tyres and order online

Start your search for winter tyres with the tyre size required for your vehicle. Then check the load and speed index as well as other relevant requirements and compare markings, EU tyre label information, manufacturers, characteristics and prices within the appropriate product selection.

At foire-aux-jantes, this allows you to move step by step from tyre size to the specific product selection. Compare the winter tyres currently offered, check the product information relevant to your intended use and then select the tyre you want to order online.

Frequently asked questions about winter tyres

When are winter tyres a suitable choice?

Winter tyres are designed for cold and wintry conditions such as snow, slush and wet winter roads. Whether they suit your driving profile depends on factors including your region, driving conditions and vehicle use.

What tyre size do I need for winter tyres?

The required tyre size depends on the specifications applicable to your particular vehicle version. In addition to dimensions, check the load and speed index as well as any other relevant technical requirements.

What does the 3PMSF symbol mean?

3PMSF stands for Three Peak Mountain Snowflake and is also known as the Alpine symbol. It identifies tyres that meet defined requirements for snow performance; for a specific product, check whether the marking is actually present.

Are M+S and 3PMSF the same?

No, M+S and 3PMSF should not be treated as equivalent. When choosing a product, check the specific markings of the tyre and the requirements applicable to your intended use.

What does the EU tyre label tell me about winter tyres?

The EU tyre label provides information including wet grip, energy efficiency or rolling resistance and external rolling noise. It does not represent the tyre's complete winter performance or all of its characteristics.

Are all-season tyres an alternative to winter tyres?

All-season tyres combine requirements from different seasons and, depending on region, climate and driving profile, can be an alternative to seasonal tyre changes. However, they remain a compromise compared with seasonally specialised summer and winter tyres.

Which winter tyre brand should I choose?

Your decision should not be based on the manufacturer's name alone. Within your required dimensions, compare the technical specifications, product markings, tyre label information, characteristics and prices of the models currently offered.
